Lighting Solutions for Industry and Warehouses

The needs of manufacturing sites and warehouses differ widely, so this is not a "one-size-fits-all" sector.
Fortunately, we have the experience and product range to be able to offer a wide range of solutions to this diverse and technically demanding sector.
For examples of some of our recent industrial and warehouse projects, please check here.

What are the Issues in Industrial & Warehouse Lighting?

  • Light distribution -- vertical or horizontal?
For many areas, such as a work bench or assembly department, our aim will be to deliver a certain lux level on a horizontal working plane. However, in a warehouse, while a certain lux level is required on the floor to enable safe navigation, we also have to light the vertical surfaces in racking aisles so that picking can be quick and accurate. This usually requires specialist optics, which we can supply.
  • IP and IK ratings
Many industrial activities generate dust and moisture -- and this means we need to provide light fittings with high IP ratings. High IK ratings are also required if there is a risk of physical impact. We have both non-corrosive fittings (detailed here) and high-bay fittings (check here) with high IP & IK ratings.
  • High-output lighting for high ceilings
In areas with high ceilings, typically high-rack warehousing and some larger industrial premises, our clients require fittings with a very high light output.

For warehouses, our OREGON fitting is often the best choice. For heavy industrial and large shed applications, consider the JUPITER.

  • Intermittent occupancy. Warehouses are often areas with very intermittent occupancy, so with lighting controls there are opportunities for massive energy savings from dimming down and switching off when nobody is present. We have a range of lighting control solutions, backed with comprehensive technical support, so achieving the most efficient solution is a one-stop-shop.

Emergency Lighting

This is mandatory in all industrial and warehouse premises. schools. So too is the requirement to perform monthly functional tests and annual full discharge (3-hour) tests. However, testing is often overlooked, or only performed sporadically.

This not only places employees in danger -- it also means that the "responsible person" is in breach of the law and at risk of prosecution.

We have a range of emergency lighting test solutions available, ranging from simple self-test solutions to fully addressable and automatic systems.
