NVC’s lighting gets warehouse shipshape for premium clients
Merlin Quay is a 1.767 Ha (4.37 acre) site on the bank of the River Itchen. It is part of Southampton Docks, which is the UK`s number one vehicle handling port, Europe`s leading turnaround cruise port and the UK`s most productive container port.
Merlin Real Estates Ltd’s property portfolio includes a 3,240 sqm warehouse at Merlin Quay that they were keen to attract a premium tenant to. Fundamental to this desire, was improving the patchy light levels provided by the existing son 250 high bay fittings. They asked leading industrial building and property maintenance company RS Design & Technology (RSDT) to determine how they could achieve this.
RSDT was tasked to find an appropriate solution and having been recommended NVC’s products was keen to investigate what they could offer. NVC produced lighting calculations and worked with RSDT to develop an appropriate plan which could be shared with the client to give them confidence that what was proposed had been professionally specified. The installation included 42 of NVC’s OREGON IKO9, IP20 rated industrial both standard and E3 luminaires as well as a variety of other NVC fittings for the building’s office areas.
Managing Director of RSDT Richard Rhodes said: “NVC were so helpful. They provided options based on factual lighting levels and the scheme we wanted to achieve. Their OREGON-based solution has accomplished exactly what Merlin Real Estates wanted, with an even spread of a minimum of 300 lux across the entire factory.
“Our installers loved them and even though the apex of the building is 20m, they were fitted in two days. And the lighting calculations and plans which NVC supplied were so good that we have included them in the client file which is an amazing service.”
RSDT is now working with NVC to improve the external lighting at this premium facility with the installation of 10 LYNX IK08, IP66 rated LED asymmetric floodlights.
