The Brighter Choice
The Challenge
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health & Care NHS Trust needed to upgrade lighting across seven ageing buildings, including hospitals and mental health units. The existing lighting was inefficient and provided unsuitable light quality for staff and visitors.

The Solution
With £90,000 of funding from the NHS Energy Efficiency Fund, Rehan Yunus worked directly with Edmundson Electrical to supply lighting and partnered with NVC Lighting for specification support. Each site was assessed individually, selecting products that improved light quality, control, and efficiency.
“We had issues with the throw of light and light temperatures, which were not suitable or conducive for the environment for our staff and visitors – so we wanted to move from a warm white light to a more neutral white.
We also wanted to have a greater degree of precision over how our lighting is used, so newer products which could be controlled with additional switches and dimmable controls were a priority for us.
As well as granting us greater control and adaptability, this also provides us with energy saving and product usage benefits.”
