Breach Barn Equestrian Centre in Canterbury, Kent has an indoor riding arena as well as 30 stables, tack room, feed room and support facilities all under cover. It hosts many competitive events which attract riders from the local area and beyond.
Its bright well-lit working area is over 1,000m² and has been designed to enable liveries to perfect their moves and positions as well as provide an environment that suits the needs of a wide range of riders from the most experienced to novices whatever the weather.
This has been achieved with the help of NVC Lighting UK who supplied 28 of their Aztec, IP65 rated, high-output, LED, circular UFO high-bay industrial luminaires.
By replacing the sodium lighting that was there before the NVC fittings were installed, Breach Barn has increased light levels by 40% while saving 50% in energy usage which benefits riders and the owners of the Equestrian Centre.
NVC was asked to recommend a lighting solution that would not only achieve improved light levels and reduce Breach Barn’s high electricity bills but could also be installed with the minimum of disruption to the horses and to the people who use the school and livery yard. By replacing the fittings one by one they succeeded on all counts.
