DIMMING

Where indicated, dimming versions of our products are available. Before specifying please confirm the availability of dimming on the variant of our product you require by telephoning +44 (0)121 457 6340. Dimming may not be available on all variants within a product range.
Four different dimming technologies can be specified by adding the following suffixes to the order code:
- 1-10 Dimming via a 1-10V analogue
 control signal
- DSI Dimming via a Digital Serial Interface
 (Tridonic control gear only)
- DA Dimming with a Digital Addressable
 Lighting Interface (DALI)
- SD Dimming with a push-to-make
 switch (switch dim)

IP RATINGS & SYMBOLS

The symbols shown below are used throughout this catalogue with the following meaning


  Class 1: Electrically insulated and provided with connection for earth.
  Class 2: Meets the double insulation requirements of BS EN 60598.
  Suitable for mounting on flammable surfaces.
   ENEC The control gear in this fitting carries the ENEC (European Norms Electrical Certification) mark. Any control gear carrying this mark must be independently tested to meet both the safety and the performance requirements of
the applicable standards.Specifically, ENEC marked gear in our fittings will provide all the benefits of high-frequency operation (energy efficiency, flicker-free operation, instant start etc) plus warm start for extended lamp life
and safe shut-down at the end of lamp-life.

TP(a) AND TP(b) RATED MATERIALS

The Building Regulations 2000 for England & Wales Approved Document B2, places strict limitations on the use of certain thermoplastic materials when they form part of a ceiling.  In particular, TP(b) rated thermoplastic materials can only be used if their extent is limited in accordance with the diagram below:

Prismatic panels are available in TP(a) and TP(b) rated materials on the Montana, Wyoming and California fittings.

LAMPS INCLUDED

Many of the fittings listed in this catalogue are sold with lamps. 
We have adopted the 3-digit colour coding for lamps that is used by all the major lamp manufacturers. Where this 3-digit code is shown at the end of the Order Code for a product it indicates that the product in question is supplied complete with that particular lamp.  Where the 3-digit code is not shown it indicates that the fitting is supplied without lamps.
The 3-digit code is structured as follows:

Digit 1 - This indicates the colour rendering index of the lamp, or Ra.  For example: 2 = Ra in the range of 20-29 (a relatively poor colour rendering, only suitable in certain circumstances)
8 = Ra in the range of 80-89 (a good colour rendering, suitable for a wide variety of applications)

Digits 2 & 3 - These indicate the colour temperature of the lamp in hundreds of degrees Kelvin.  For example: 35 = 3500 degs K 40 = 4000 degs K In general the lamps supplied with our HF fluorescent fittings are colour 840.
This means they have a Ra in the range of 80-89 and a colour temperature of 4000K. The same numbering system is also used with HID lamps.  SON lamps are generally colour 220 and metal halide lamps are generally colour 740.
